Beating the Cabin Fever BLUES

January 21, 2010

What is it about January that makes us want to get away? Probably those cabin fever blues. If you’re looking for some fun inspiration or thinking about where you’d like to get away to this year, don’t miss the AAA Great Vacations Expo this Friday through Sunday (Jan. 22-24) at Veterans Memorial in downtown Columbus.

This family friendly show will include guest appearances by Adam Richman (The Travel Channel’s Man V. Food), the Columbus Zoo’s own Jack Hanna and (for the younger set) Dora the Explorer.   Visit with representatives from travel destinations all over Ohio, explore the idea of taking that cruise you’ve always dreamed about or consider what it would be like to visit Alaska. There will be plenty of presentations on topics ranging from “Slithery and Slimy: Native Reptiles and Amphibians” to “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ only at Universal Orlando Resort.”  Saturday is kids day–with special activities, passports to stamp and mascots and characters. Tickets are $8 for adults; $4 for AAA members. Kids under 16 are free.

If you go, be sure to look for our friends at the Marion Convention & Visitors Bureau. They will have information from Bluefusion Family Entertainment Center about our facility, our amazing birthday party deals and a special offer that you just might want to stop in and use on your way back home!!  Bon Voyage!

Locked-in at the Big Blue!

January 7, 2010

Now, there are some places I would most definitely NOT want to spend the night … like Ohio State Reformatory up the road from Marion, Ohio in Mansfield. I know, I know—that historic prison of Air Force One and Shawshank Redemption fame has quite a reputation for its exciting Ghost Hunt events. But I need something a little more … well, friendly and FUN!

If you (and your group) are looking for something along those lines, then look no further. The Bluefusion Team has been working on our 2010 Marketing plan and one of the new offerings that we can’t wait to share is (drumroll please) …. our Bluefusion Lock-ins! These awesome new private party events (held overnight) are available to large groups—school prom groups, Church Youth Groups (camps or retreats), Scout groups, companies, schools and other organizations.

It works like this … your group arrives around 11 pm or 12 midnight on your pre-determined date and then you HAVE AN AWESOME TIME … ALL NIGHT LONG! Your group basically gets the run-of-the-house. (Chaperones oversee the activity.) They can bowl, play Earth Quest Cosmic Golf, go head-to-head at Skeeball, challenge each other with a major Guitar Hero rock-out, race on the Fast & Furious Super Bikes and many other games.

They’ll enjoy a Pizza Buffet and soda. They can take part in team-building activities. AND, we’ll work with your planning committee to provide other enhancement ideas like a Vegas night gaming theme or performers/entertainment. For younger kids, a slumber party (where they bring their sleeping bags) could be an option. Then, sometime between 5-7 a.m. when the sun starts to rise on a new day, everyone gets to go home (and sleep). Now, how fun is that?

And one thing is for absolutely sure … it will be a night they will NEVER forget.
